Adam Abel, Palestine Interrupted

I am using narratives from Palestine to disrupt narratives about Palestine. Predictable images of military, checkpoints, walls and violence are absent in my videos. Through fragmented vignettes and sensorial experience, I weave together moments that are melancholic, hopeful, mundane and anxious.

Palestine Interrupted is an installation of nine short, looped videos that are arranged on separate monitors and mapped out in the shape of a circle. This work was created concurrently with my feature documentary, QALQILYA – also set in Palestine.

This is the original design for the installation I constructed while developing this piece. It is large in scale and intended for a large gallery exhibition space.

The first installation of this work was in an elevator space in the lobby of Parsons. This is one of the plans I created in preparation for the install.
